Christmas Capers Event
|
It was stop and pinch yourself time on December 16 at Brocks Hill Country Park because Christmas Capers was here once again. Large crowds were expected on what was a cold winter’s morning to join in with the festivities. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. people came from all around to sample the delights of Christmas which included handmade crafts and confections, homemade calendars and delicious fairground treats to accompany the rides.

Reindeer Head

But without a doubt the biggest crowd pullers on the day were the Cairngorm Reindeer herd who are Britain’s only herd from the mountains of Scotland. This was the main talking point of the day and lots of families eagerly anticipated their arrival. Everyone was very impressed with the Christmas critters and many visitors said it was the first time they had ever encountered reindeer in their lives and they were something that children do not usually see.
Children were also given the opportunity to try their hands at circus entertainment with juggling and plate spinning the most popular skills. There was also the annual tradition of going to see Santa Claus in his grotto.
Staging Christmas capers at Brocks Hill had proved to be a hit and an ultimately fitting place to stage one of the borough’s biggest annual events. As usual safety and organisation were paramount and this efficiency gave a very enjoyable, if rather hectic and busy day out for all without a hitch.
