Neighbourhood Management Role

This page contains an introduction from Jacky York to the the role of Neighbourhood and Community Priorities Officer for Wigston and South Wigston.

My role is to provide a Neighbourhood Management role in identified areas of Wigston and South Wigston. This means working with agencies such as the police, education and the health service as well as the local community to identify issues in the area and setting up Neighbourhood Action Teams to address them.

Concerns are usually around common themes such as health, economic development, community safety, youth issues and the living environment. So far you have told me that locally you are concerned about graffiti, antisocial behaviour and lack of youth provision and I am working with the council and partners to address these issues.

I would welcome contact from members of community groups or individuals who are interested in improving the neighbourhood in which they live, work or meet or who may wish to offer some constructive advice about how services could be improved.    Community and voluntary groups have a large role to play as do businesses and local residents. Working in partnership will allow us to target resources and enable  members of the community to participate more fully in how the neighbourhood is managed.

If you wish to discuss the above further please email |Jacky York or telephone Leicester (0116) 2572675
