The Community Development Section

Summary

This page contains information about the services provided by the Community Development Section.

Introduction

The Community Development Section aims to provide everyone who lives and works in the borough of Oadby and Wigston the opportunity to contribute to a society based on social justice and mutual respect.  Our task is to work towards the development of an active community which will support the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area.

Our aims are:-

  • To work towards improved access to community based facilities and the provision of socially rewarding activities for residents, particularly vulnerable groups at risk of social exclusion.
  • To develop links with the borough and the wider Leicestershire area to improve the health of residents.
  • To liaise with local community groups and organisations in order to progress partnership working.

There are two Officers overseeing community activities, these are:

Jacky York - Neighbourhood and Community Priorities Officer
