Oadby and Wigston Local Sport Alliance
sports grants.
Sporting star of the future? Maybe we can help?
The sports grants scheme is a joint initiative between the Oadby and Wigston Local Sports and Active Recreation Alliance (LSARA) and the Oadby Community Stakeholders Forum. It will be launched in April 2007 and is open to residents aged 18 and under to support the development of their sporting potential.
Background information
The LSARA and Stakeholders are working in partnership to provide grants for talented young sports people. They recognise that there are many talented sports people in the borough that represent their county, region or country but that their national governing bodies may not be able to give them the financial support that they need to reach their potential. It is hoped that this small funding pot will assist these young sports people to compete at the highest level and achieve their goals.
In order to be considered for the grant, the Oadby and Wigston LSARA and Oadby Stakeholders Forum will be looking for applicants to meet all of the criteria detailed below:
-
Applicants must complete and submit the correct application form including the reasons for application and a club or national governing body statement
-
Applicants must live or go to school in Oadby, Wigston or South Wigston
-
Applicants must be aged 18 or younger
-
Only sports recognised by Sport England will be considered for a grant
-
Applicants must be competing at a county level or above in their sport
-
Applicants must be registered or affiliated to a club recognised by a county, regional or national governing body
-
Applications will be accepted for training, equipment, competition fees and expenses
-
Maximum grant per annum to be £100
-
A statement of support from the club or national governing body of sport must be provided
-
One grant per person per financial year (subject to funding)
The sports grant assessment panel will meet four times a year in the first week of February, May, August and November; applications must be received at least a week before these meetings to be considered in that round. Applicants will be informed by the end of that month whether or not they have been successful.
