Priority Neighbourhoods Manager
This officer works with agencies such as the police, education and the health service, the voluntary sector and the local community to identify priority issues in Wigston and South Wigston and setting up neighbourhood action teams to address them.
Wigston and South Wigston Neighbourhood Action Team
In Wigston the team addresses issues in the priority areas of All Saints and Wigston Fields wards. Projects have included graffiti removal, renovation of community assets, gardening and supporting events.
In South Wigston the team addresses the South Wigston Ward. Current issues include the recruitment of volunteers to develop the use of the Bassett Centre.
A Neighbourhood Development Worker is employed to facilitate the development of the Neighbourhood Action Teams and increase community capacity.
The next meeting of the Neighbourhood Action Team is on Thursday 9 September at 2.30 p.m. at Brocks Hill Environment Centre.
