Wigston Neighbourhood Action Team
Graffiti Removal Project Wednesday, 25 June 2008.
Throughout the day on Wednesday, 25 June 2008 local volunteers cleared the town centre and surrounding areas of graffiti. 12 young volunteers assisted police and community volunteers to clean graffiti from wood or glass surfaces by using specialist wipes, painting fences and walls and picking up litter.
Our public cleansing section demonstrated how graffiti is removed and a professional company applied anti-graffiti paint in a key area. Police officers helpeded with the removal and support the young people taking part.
The purpose of the project was to make a visual impact on Wigston town centre and to show the positive contribution that young people make in the community.
Following the event young people will be working with us for up to 12 weeks to help to maintain a graffiti free environment and to take on other tasks to improve the area.
