Summary
This page details what a Blue Badge Scheme is and how to apply for a Blue Badge.
What is the Blue Badge Scheme?
Blue Badges allow people who are registered blind or people who have severe walking difficulties who travel as either drivers or passengers to park near shops, stations and other facilities. People with severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand can also apply.
The Blue Badge Scheme is a national arrangement, but its parking concessions only apply to on-street parking. Within the controlled car parks of Oadby and Wigston holders of a Blue Badge may park in the designated bays for disabled persons. These are marked in yellow hatching and display a wheel chair symbol. The badge does not allow the holder to park:-
-
in more than one bay
-
on yellow lines within the car park
-
anywhere other than in a white marked, blue marked, green marked or designated disabled persons bay for longer than the designated periods
