Graffiti is not art.  It is unsightly and gives your neighborhood a run down look.  It attracts other types of anti-social behavoiur and can instil a sense of fear in people. You should report instances of graffiti on public property. If you notice racist, political or obscene graffiti on private property then we will remove this with the permission of the property owner.   

 

You can telephone Graffiti Hotline (Free phone telephone number) on: 0800 318026  and we will undertake to remove the offending material as soon as possible.

There are 170 dog bins in the Borough which are emptied at least twice a week.  If you see dog fouling you can report it using the free phone number telephone 0800 318026.

  

 

 

Bin Emptying


The are 300 litterbins in the borough all emptied at least twice weekly.  Some are emptied 3 times per week and others daily.  The emptying schedules are monitored on a regular basis and modified according to usage. Litter bins are replaced on a rolling program.  35 new floor mounted bins and 15 post mounted bins were installed last year.

Fly tipped bags left on the street can be torn open by animals or birds leading to litter and dirt being spread around. This can make your neighbourhood a real eyesore. If you see it report it to us by telephoning Leicester (0116) 288 8961 and we will investigate all cases of fly tipping.

Fly posting is illegal and contravenes the Highways Act 1980 and the Leicestershire Act 1985. If you see instances of fly posting please report them. Telephone Leicester (0116) 288 8961 and we will take the necessary action. This includes the removal of the fly posters, or writing to persistent offenders followed by possible prosecution.  

  

 

Bin Replacement


Please contact Customer Services| if you notice a damaged or missing bin, including dog bins or if you want to request an additional bin. 

 

 

   Syringes and Sharps


Needles, syringes and other drug related items are sometimes discarded in the environment.  There are number of health and safety issues associated with handling of such items and if discovered you should contact us to have them safely removed and disposed.

If you see such items we would advise you not pick them up.  Contact us immediately and we will safely dispose of them.  Please note that sharps and syringes found on educational premises such as schools during working hours should be reported immediately to the premises officer or administration office so that they can arrange for safe collection and disposal.  If you find a needle or syringe in a public area you should report it to us by telephone Leicester (0116) 288 8961. Arrangements will be made for collection and disposal.
