This page describes how to arrange for a collection and payments.  It also highlights how to claim a free collection for bulky waste and gives contact details for items that can be reused.

Arranging for a collection

To arrange for a collection please contact Customer Services| or telephone Leicester (0116) 288 8961.  You will be required to make the payment a week prior to the collection.  All payments must be made at the Council offices on Station Road.  The customer services department will advise you on payment options and arrange for the collection.

 

Please note, all collections are carried out on weekdays only between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.  All items must be left outside your property on the collection day. 

 

Are you eligible for a free collection?

To claim free collection contact Customer Services| for a special exemption form.  Once you receive it, complete it and return it to us with proof that you receive a qualifying benefit.


The proof may be in the form of a letter from the deparment that provides the benefit or a council tax bill showing that you receive the benefit.

 

The completed form and the proof may be submitted by hand to:

Photocopies of documents will be accepted if you are posting your application. Any documents you send to us will be returned to you by post after checking.

Your household items may be of use to someone else. Below are contact details to organisations that may accept your household items and put them to good use. Please contact them directly for more information.

 

Freecycle

The Freecycle| [External Link] network is an Internet based network which aims to find unwanted items a home. You can add your item to the Leicestershire Freecycle site and see if someone wants it.

 

Recycling household furniture

Please visit the recycle| [External Link] network web site for all your unwanted items. Do not let your attic, shed or cupboards fill up with unwanted junk. Recycle them to a new home today. 

 

Computer recycling

A number of organisations now accept old computers for recycling and reuse. Some of these can be found by visiting the wasteonline web site|. [External Link]
