Less waste, more recycling
Congratulations to all of the residents who have been recognised as some of the best recyclers in the Country.
Recycling and waste figures published by the Department of Food and Rural Affairs have shown that the borough was ranked in the top 10 for sending less than 200 kilograms of waste per head of population to landfill and for recycling over 40 percent of its annual waste last year.
Paul Johnson, deputy chief executive of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council said, “We are very pleased to be mentioned twice in the lists of top performing councils. This demonstrates that our efforts to recycle more while minimising waste are achieving results. Our thanks go to our workforce, who take a personal pride in ensuring the council performs well in the area of refuse and recycling collections and to residents for participating and making the recycling services a success."
