Recycling Statistics 2006-07

Summary

This page highlights the recycling target that was achieved from April 2006 to March 2007.  The page also provides information on the amount of refuse, recycling and garden waste collected last year.

Did we meet our 2007 statutory recycling target?

Thanks to every recycler in the borough, last year we met our statutory recycling target. The government set a target of 39 percent and we met it by recycling 40 percent of the waste produced in the borough.

This year we aim to achieve 42 percent by March 2008.

All you have to do is participate in the local recycling services by placing the correct materials in your recycling bags |instead of your refuse sacks and recycling glass bottles at your nearest bottle bank. And, of course, use our free garden waste collection service.

Below is a breakdown of how much refuse, recycling and compostable material was collected last year

From kerbside collections:-

  • refuse collected 10,496 tonnes
  • road sweepings collected 500 tonnes
