12.   Notice of Motion by the Mayor (Council Procedure Rule 12.1(a))

 "This Council deplores the use of 0844 and other premium telephone numbers by some of the local NHS medical practices in the Borough [causing additional and unnecessary expense to patients while at the same time being source of income to the medical practices]. It calls for the local Primary Care Trust (PCT) to use its powers and influence to bring an end to this disgraceful practice. Officers are asked to write to the local PCT in the terms above and to ask the local Member of Parliament to take this up with appropriate Government Ministers and to draw this to the attention of the Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Spokesperson and the Local Government Association.”
