15.

What kind of accommodation can I have?

15.1

If you are not currently our tenant, your application will only be considered for a flat, a maisonette or a bungalow depending on your circumstances. If, however, you are already a tenant and have dependent children, in addition to the above you can also be considered for a house. As long as your children are under 16 years of age.

You will be given a property that is big enough for your family. If you are expecting a baby in the near future, you will be allocated a property which is a suitable size for your expected family.

15.2

We are not able to consider everybody on the Housing register for a house simply because there are insufficient properties. We give priority for family homes to existing tenants.

You can choose any area in the Borough, the more areas you choose, the quicker you will be offered a property. We will only offer you a property in the area of your choice unless we mutually decide on an alternative option.

15.3

Where is your accommodation?

We have produced three lists which detail where property is located. There are lists for the following:-

  1. Older People
  2. People applying to the Housing register for the first time
  3. Transfer applicants, that is existing tenants looking for a move.

16.

What if I do not like the property that you offer me?

Before you are offered a property, you will be contacted to discuss your application.  If we formally offer you a property in an area and type of your choice that you then refuse, you will only be given one more choice.  If you do not take the second offer of a property, you will not be offered another dwelling for at least 12 months.
