The Bedroom Standard

For calculating overcrowding and under occupation. Each bedroom can be occupied by any of the following people. Any bedroom less than fifty square feet is not counted.

1. Persons living as man and wife 
2.  A single parent 
3.  A single person over the age of twenty one
4.  Any two people, up to the age of twenty, of the same sex
5.  Two children of different sexes aged nine or under

Points Allocation - Important Information

Local Residency is awarded 50 points. To receive this you must have lived in the Oadby and Wigston Borough for a minimum of six continuous months, as of the date of your Housing Application. Proof will be required.

Shared Facility points are not available to single people under 25 years of age who are living with parents or guardians.

Only people over 60 years of age or with medical problems will be considered for accommodation which has a speech call alarm system.

Only families with children under 16 years of age will be considered for a transfer to a house.
