In May this year, we are due to be inspected by a Government body, called the Audit Commission. The Inspectors will be assessing how good we are as a landlord.
The Inspection will take place on the week commencing 12 May 2008 and last for five days. It will look at the following services that we provide as a landlord:
-
Repairs and maintenance
-
Tenancy and estate management (this includes dealing with anti-social behaviour)
-
Income management (this includes collecting rent and dealing with arrears)
The Inspection will also look at the following areas:
-
How residents are involved in the housing service
-
How we ensure that we offer Value for Money
-
Whether our service is accessible to all and is focused on the needs of the customer
-
How we cater for the diverse needs of people around the Borough
The Inspectors will be holding a meeting with tenants to find out what they think about the services we provide as a landlord. If you would like to attend, please telephone the number at the bottom of the page or email the Housing Section|.
The outcome of the Inspection will be a score for the landlord service. A star rating will be given to show how good the service is. This can range from 0 stars for a poor service, through to 3 stars for an excellent service. There will also be a score to show our prospects for improving in the future. This includes scores of poor, uncertain, promising or excellent prospects for improvement.
A report of the findings of the Inspection is due to be published on 21 August 2008. A copy will be available on the Audit Commission's web site, where you can also find more information about the Inspection process - go to www.audit-commission.gov.uk| [External link].
