People Strategy

Through our People Strategy we recognise that the most valuable resources are our employees. We recognise that our success as an organisation is totally dependent upon the commitment and dedication of the talented people that work here. 

 

The People Strategy sets out how we will continue to develop and care for staff in order to harness their talent and potential to achieve our vision and its stated priorities to meet current and future developments and challenges at national, regional and local level. 

 

The four key themes of the People Strategy are:-

 

To be an employer of choice

We will aim to be an organisation that people aspire to work for by:-

  • Creating flexible employment, development and reward packages that employees highly value.
  • Creating a challenging and exciting work environment.
  • Being a good employer and looking after our people.

A developer of people

We will develop the organisation through its people by:-

  • Developing strong leaders.
  • Promoting and assisting career development through specific individual training plans, and offering secondment, mentoring, coaching opportunities.
  • Developing structured professional qualification programmes based on our organisations objectives.
  • Ensure employees take responsibility for their own continuous development.

Receptive to Change

We will aim to be an organisation continually striving for excellence by:-

  • Involving and empowering employees to contribute to innovation and change within their services.
  • Developing our performance culture and improving capacity.
  • Recognising the importance of engaging employees in organisational change.
  • Developing flexible employment packages that reflect our communities' expectations.

To Value Equality and Diversity

We will value and harness the creativity and uniqueness of all employees by:-

  • Harnessing the diversity of our employees to improve service delivery.
  • Enhancing our reputation both internally and externally by our actions.
  • Ensuring the fair and consistent treatment of all our employees.
  • Monitoring personnel practice and workforce profiles and taking positive action to address any imbalances found.
