What Next?
Once we are in receipt of your letter or email, we will send an acknowledgement and aim to reply to your enquiry within ten working days.
Not all development requires planning permission and sometimes it is possible to carry out work under permitted development rights. This is where the need for planning permission is not required because the work is classed as permitted development in accordance with the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development Order) 1995. There are strict qualifying criteria for permitted development including whether the land or property in question actually has any permitted development rights.
From 1 October 2008 there will be changes to the householder permitted development rights. For further information please visit the Planning Portal web site |[External Link]
We will be able to tell you if your proposal will require permission by submitting a One stop shop development enquiry form| (pdf, 61kB). Text only version of the One stop shop development enquiry form|.
Regardless of whether planning permission is required or not, you are likely to need Building Regulation Approval. The Building Control Section can be contacted on Leicester (0116) 257 2657 or visit the Building Control web pages|.
