Summary

Oadby Hill Top was designated as a conservation area in 1987 and Meadowcourt was designated in 1988. On July 26 2005 following public consultation the decision was made to amend the boundaries and amalgamate the two Conservation Areas. The Conservation Area was renamed as Oadby Hill Top and Meadowcourt Conservation Area to recognise this change.

 

Description

  

The conservation area includes Glebe Road, Southmeads Road, Meadowcourt Road and part of Stoughton Drive South, Knighton Rise, Knighton Grange Road and Manor Road.

The conservation area appraisal fulfills Oadby and Wigston Borough Councils duty to 'draw up and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement' of the area as required by the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.

Statutory listed buildings within the conservation area

 

There are a number of listed buildings within the Oadby Hill Top and Meadowcourt Conservation Area these buildings are listed as grade two (grade II) these are described as buildings of special interest which warrant every effort being made to preserve them.

 

Listed buildings within the conservation area are:

Hastings House and Lodge, Stoughton Drive South: Grade two (Grade II)

Beaumont Hall and Lodge, Stoughton Drive South: Grade two (Grade II)

Glebe Mount, 1 Glebe Road: Grade two (Grade II)

The Knoll and Stable, Glebe Road: Grade two (Grade II)
