Summary
Local planning policy guidance has an important role to play in the way land and buildings are developed and used. The guidance informs day to day decisions as to whether or not planning permission should be granted, under the system known as development control|. In order to ensure that those decisions are rational and consistent, they must be made in accordance with the development plan adopted by the authority. The preparation of local planning policies are guided by a planning framework| which consists of national, regional sub-regional and local guidance.
