What is a Local Development Framework?
Following the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the Borough Council are required to produce a Local Development Framework (LDF). The Oadby and Wigston Local Development Framework, currently in production will replace the Borough's Saved Local Plan|. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 |that came into force in September 2004, has led to a new planning system whereby existing Local Plans and Structure Plans are being replaced with Local Development Frameworks.

Local Development Scheme (LDS)
The Local Development Scheme| sets out the timetable for the production of the Local Development Framework.
Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
The Statement of Community Involvement| outlines how we propose to involve residents, businesses, groups and organisations in the preparation of the Local Development Framework (LDF) and in making planning decisions.
Core Strategy
The Core Strategy| sets out the vision, spatial objectives and core policies for the future development .
Allocations Development Plan Document
The Allocations Development Plan Document is a key element of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It will identify appropriate development sites to deliver the objectives of the Core Strategy. More information on the Allocations Development Plan Document|.
Area Action Plans (AAPs)
Area Actions Plans assist in producing a consensus as to the right strategy for an area and how it might be implemented. Area Actions Plans for Oadby Town Centre| and Wigston Town Centre |are currently in production.
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
Details on Supplementary Planning Documents| which have been adopted and Supplementary Planning Documents which are proposed. Adopted Supplementary Planning Documents includes the Residential Development SPD|.
Annual Monitoring Report (AMR)
A requirement of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004|, is to publish an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) by December of each year to reflect the previous financial year. The Report measures the degree to which the Borough Council have successfully applied the policies set out in the development plans and measures progress toward the LDF. Sustainability Appraisal (SA)
The purpose of Sustainability Appraisal (SA), mandatory under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004|, is to promote sustainable development through the integration of social, environmental and economic considerations into the preparation of revisions of Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS) and for new or revised Development Plan Documents (DPD) and Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD). Evidence Base Documents
The key purpose of Evidence Based Documents is to support. The Forward Plans team have assembled a range of Evidence Base Documents to be used in the preparation and implementation of documents within the Local Development Framework, known as the Evidence Base|.
