What is a Statement of Community Involvement?

We are preparing new local guidelines  to outline how we intend to plan for new homes, jobs, and other development in the borough to 2021. As planning affects all of us, we want to ensure that everyone is able to shape the future of the borough through active and meaningful involvement. The Statement of Community Involvement sets out the standards to be achieved in the preparation, alteration and continuing review of all Local Development Documents and planning applications. The Statement of Community Involvement must meet minimum consultation requirements set out in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and related guidance, it must also have regard to our Corporate Plan and Community Plan.
