Summary
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) will supplement policies and proposals in Development Plan Documents and may take the form of site development briefs, or issue-based documents.
Introduction
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) should expand or add further details to policies set out in development plan documents, but do not carry development plan status. The guidance they contain may be used as material considerations in the consideration of planning applications.
Supplementary Planning Documents are non-statutory documents which are not subject to independent examination and do not have Development Plan status. However, they will be subject to a thorough process of public consultation, in accordance with the Council's Statement of Community Involvement, and will be subject to Sustainability Appraisal. They can also be 'material considerations' when making decisions about new development.
