An alphabetical listing of key Local Development Framework terms.

 




 

Area Action Plans

More detailed plans, containing site or location specific policies and proposals for areas of change or conservation. Area Action Plans are Development Plan Documents which mean they carry the full weight of the planning system.

 

Core Strategy

Sets out the vision, objectives and spatial strategy for the Borough with policies to facilitate delivery. 

 

Development Plan Document (DPD)

A statutory document within a Local Development Framework, such as a document containing the core strategy, development control policies or Area Action Plans.

 

Local Development Documents (LDDs)

Documents that set out the development plan policies and supporting guidance that are in force in the Borough. There are two types of Local Development Documents; Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents.

 

Local Development Framework (LDF)

A portfolio of of Local Development Documents that are in force at any one time in the Borough.

 

Local Development Scheme (LDS)

A project plan and timetable for the preperation of the Local Development Framework.

 

Planning Policy Statement (PPS)

Set out Government Guidance on the content of the Local Development Framework. Planning Policy Statements (PPS) replaces Planning Policy Guidance (PPG).

 

Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS)

Regional Spatial Strategies replaces Regional Planning Guidance and has development plan status. They are produced by the Regional Assembly  and approved by the Government.

 

Site specific allocations and policies

Allocation of sites for specific or mixed uses or development will be contained in development plan documentd.

 

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

Outlines how the Borough Council plan to engage the community in the preperation of Local Development Documents and considering significant planning applications

 

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

A systematic process of identyfying and assessing the likely effects on the enviroment in the process of preperating Local Development Documents

 

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)

Non-statutory planning guidance or policy that does not need to be in a Development Plan Document. Supplemenentary Planning Documents replaces Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)

 

Sustainability Appraisal (SA)

An appraisal of Local Development Documents which considers their environmental, economic and social impacts.
