Parks and Open Spaces Strategy

Scope of the Strategy

 

This strategy will create a strategic framework for developing and managing open spaces directly owned by us and will:-

• Define what we mean by the term ‘open space’
• Ensure that the strategy reflects the major changes that influence open space provision
• Consult the community and stakeholders to determine views and expectations of local provision
• Draw together all the information that is currently held within the Council and wherever possible map our open space using the geographical information system (GIS)
• Assess the quality and value of our open spaces
• Assess maintenance standards and consider what other policies or services have an impact on how we develop and manage our public space
• Confirm our policy in relation to public space both now and for future planning
• Develop an action plan to implement the strategy
• Not go into detail about development and event activities already embedded in our Youth, Sport and Leisure, Play and Culture Strategies.
