Parks and Open Spaces Strategy
Scope of the Strategy
This strategy will create a strategic framework for developing and managing open spaces directly owned by us and will:-
-
Define what we mean by the term ‘open space’
-
Ensure that the strategy reflects the major changes that influence open space provision
-
Consult the community and stakeholders to determine views and expectations of local provision
-
Draw together all the information that is currently held within the Council and wherever possible map our open space using the geographical information system (GIS)
-
Assess the quality and value of our open spaces
-
Assess maintenance standards and consider what other policies or services have an impact on how we develop and manage our public space
-
Confirm our policy in relation to public space both now and for future planning
-
Develop an action plan to implement the strategy
-
Not go into detail about development and event activities already embedded in our Youth, Sport and Leisure, Play and Culture Strategies.
