Council Leader Announces First Eco Town Residents Meeting

Council Leader Announces First Eco Town Resident’s Meeting - 13/05/08

John Boyce, Leader of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, today announced the resident's public meeting that will start the Council's Eco Town consultation.

"By next Monday every household and business in the Borough should have received their very own Eco Town Consultation leaflet from the Council through the post. This leaflet gives the most up to date information direct from the Government and the Co-op. This first stage is now about asking the Government and the Co-op the questions people want answers to. All residents and businesses can do this either in the quiet of their own homes, by sending back the Free Post reply form to us, or by coming to the residents meeting which will be at Parklands Leisure Centre at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday 20th May."

Councillor Boyce added, "This first meeting has the one purpose of gathering together all the unanswered questions that people have after reading the leaflet. There will be no representatives from either the Government or Co-op at this meeting. They have been invited to the second meeting on 18th June when we want them to give everybody as many of the answers as possible."

Councillor Boyce went on to urge all residents and businesses, "It is important that everybody gets their questions back to us on the reply form provided with the leaflet as quickly as possible and by Tuesday 27th May at the latest. We then need time to summarise them into the main key questions and give the Government and Co-op the opportunity to get the answers back ready for our next set of public resident's meetings on Wednesday 18th June."
