This is the home page of the Benefits Section. The Benefits Section deals with Housing Benefit|, which is help with your rent; and Council Tax Benefit|, which is help with your Council Tax.
Owner occupiers, Council tenants and tenants of other landlords may all qualify for either or both of these benefits.

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
You can claim Housing Benefit| if you pay rent to a private landlord, Housing Association or a Local Authority, and are on a low income (involving either full or part-time work), have savings of less than £16,000, or are receiving state benefits. You can also claim Council Tax Benefit |if you are liable to pay Council Tax on your home and meet any of the above requirements.
You will not be able to get Housing Benefit| or Council Tax Benefit| if:

you are a non-householder
-
you have more than £16,000 in capital (unless you are in receipt of Guaranteed Credit

your status in the Uk excludes you from receiving public funds

you are a full-time student - unless you are a full time student who is also

a lone parent or,
-
disabled or,
-
under 19 and following a further (not higher) course of education or,

aged 60 or more.
