Brocks Hill Country Park and Centre, Oadby is all set to welcome everyone to their third year of celebrations as a ‘Home of Natural History’ with their Garden Party on Sunday 4 June,10:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The newly-appointed Mayor Cllr Samia Haq will be opening the event at the rear of the centre overlooking the Country Park at 11:00am.
The family event is a celebration of all the work and commitment that goes into strengthening Brocks Hill’s role within the local community of Oadby and Wigston and beyond. It recognises the Greening the Borough Partners and the work of the natural history and environmental groups from across the county.
There will be information, displays and activities on hand to experience; demonstrations of traditional crafts; stalls on hand to show the wildlife recording work that goes on; activities to join in which show how fitness, exercise and outdoor activities bring about health and wellbeing to all.
This wonderfully fun yet informative day has been made possible by the support of the Edith Murphy Foundation which has helped us to fund our continued development as a centre inspiring and informing our visitors about the joys of nature and the natural environment.
The day will include fun for all the family with opportunities to join in on some stalls: storytelling, face painting, demonstrations of a pole lathe, whittling, basket making, whistle making and much more. The amphitheatre will be buzzing with music and entertainment.
Outside there will also be a gym challenge, table tennis, Tai Chi with a craft activity, a nature trail around the Country Park, football, ultimate frisbee, touch tennis to name just some. All of these activities promote the value of open space for health and wellbeing.
Entry and parking at this event is free. There may be some charges on individual stalls.
