Registering to vote
If you wish to vote you must register as an elector. The deadline for applications to be received to be included on the Register of Electors and vote in this by-election is midnight on Wednesday, 1 February 2012
Voting at the polling station
Providing you are included on the Register of Electors as a local government elector for Oadby Woodlands Ward you will be able to vote in this by-election and cast your vote in person at the polling station.
Postal vote
If you wish to cast your vote by post you must either already be registered as a postal voter or you may apply to be a postal voter. To vote by post in this by-election, we must receive your postal vote application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 1 February 2012.
Proxy vote
Voting by proxy is a way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station yourself. 'By proxy' just means that you appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf. To vote by proxy, you will need to be registered to vote. Applications to appoint a proxy to vote in this by-election must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 8 February 2012.
Cancel or change a postal or proxy vote
You must give a notification to the electoral registration officer if you wish to cancel or change any existing arrangements to vote by post or by proxy. If you wish to cancel or change your existing voting arrangement in time to cast your vote in this by-election, your notification must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 1 February 2012.
Poll cards
You will receive a poll card if you are registered at an address within the Oadby Woodlands Ward. Your poll card will arrive approximately three weeks before polling day. A poll card advises you of the date of the election and the location of your polling station. You can expect to receive your poll card for this by-election by about Friday 27 January 2012.
