Sure Start Children's Centres

Sure Start Children’s Centres are a government programme which aims to achieve better outcomes for children, parents/carers and families. Children’s Centres are places where children and their families can receive services, information and advice. Services vary from centre to centre, but include:

• Support for parents, such as advice on parenting and access to specialist services for families.
• Child and family health services, ranging from health screening and health visitor services to breastfeeding support.
• Pregnancy testing and free condoms.

Your local Children’s Centres are open to families with children aged 0 – 5, who are resident in the district of Blaby or borough of Oadby Wigston. A team of Family Outreach Workers deliver a range of group sessions from the centres. They also offer one to one support to families who are vulnerable and most in need of additional support.
