Tackling Priority Hazards

This page provides details about health and safety at work and the priority hazards.

In June 2000, the government and the Health and Safety Commission launched a 10 year strategy to improve health and safety at work.

This is being carried out in Oadby and Wigston by tackling what are known as priority hazards.

Work by our environmental health officers in the local authority sector is now geared towards the five priority hazards that have been identified from the number of workers at risk and the number of accidents that occur.

For more information on the local authority enforced priority hazards, click on one of the links below:-

Falls from height

Workplace transport

Musculoskeletal disorders

Stress

Slips and trips

Officers visiting your business will focus on these issues during their inspections and investigations of accidents.
