Tree Felling for Beginners at Brocks Hill Country Park - CANCELLED
The centre is fully accessible but there will be uneven ground in the park.
Learn the theory of felling a small tree safely using hand tools, followed by a practical session working with mixed tree sizes within the Country Park which also covers processing felled wood and leaving a safe site. The theory session will look at assessment of trees, risk assessments and how to manage the felling process safely.
This training day is ideal for groups managing small woodlands and for individuals looking to manage their own trees, perhaps in a garden.
Tool and protective equipment for the day will be provided and handouts will be given. This all day event costs £35.00 per person and booking is necessary.

How to lead a guided walk
The centre is fully accessible.
This illustrated talk will put the role of the guided walk into context. It will provide information on how to be a good leader, providing a framework with which to plan and deliver a guided walk. Some top tips and ideas for creative additions, managing health and safety and making a walk fun and informative will be shared.
The cost will be £7.50 per person and booking is advisable.

Afternoon tea and an illustrated talk for adults by Doctor Anthony Fletcher. This session has been organised by the Friends of Brocks Hill Country Park group.
The cost is £3.50 each but for members of the Friends group the cost is £2.50. Booking is advisable.

An introduction to fungi
The centre is fully accessible.
Using field collected and museum specimens, Richard will introduce common fungi found in Leicestershire and the aids available for their identification. Each attendee will be provided with a copy of the Field Studies Council Fungi Name Trail Guide. Please note that this course is an introduction to fungi and not a food foraging course.
This session is most suitable for adults and costs £12.50 per person. Booking is advisable.
