Map reading for beginners
An introductory day course to map reading. The course will cover the fundamentals of looking at a map and interpreting symbols, and contours, as well as how to give and interpret grid references. The afternoon will include practical exercises in the Country Park.
This course costs £12.50 and is suitable for adults and children of 12 years and over.
The centre is fully accessible but there may be uneven ground in the park.

The art of haymaking at Brocks Hill Country Park
Drop in and join the Rangers and the Conservation Volunteers making hay. Hay making is the longest established method of conserving grasslands. It has been an important function of the farming calendar in the UK for the last six thousand years. This technique helps encourage wild flowers and the diversity of wildlife in our meadows.
This event is most suitable for adults and youngsters of 16 years and over. There is no charge: just drop in.
The centre is accessible but there may be uneven ground in the park.

Make your own recycled paper - for older children
This is an opportunity for older children to enjoy a session unaccompanied. Learn a new skill, and use colour and dried flowers to create your own unique paper to take away.

Twilight Haymaking at Brocks Hill Country Park - CANCELLED
Come and try your hand at haymaking using traditional and modern methods. Working with different tools will highlight how this can benefit small to large areas of grassland. Handouts, risk assessment and guidance on the use of tools and meadow management will be provided.

Angela Holland, the gardening expert for the Tuesday lunchtime Radio Harborough programme, is coming to Brocks Hill to talk about wildlife gardening. Our gardens are wonderful places to nurture British wildlife and Angela will give you insight into the best plants and techniques that can be used to encourage and sustain a healthy wildlife garden.
