Oadby, Wigston and South Wigston are set to glow with festive warmth this winter as all three towns get ready to switch their Christmas lights on.
With each town centre having their own display installed by Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, each town is set to sparkle this winter.
To celebrate the lights, each town will be holding its’ very own lights switch on.
Oadby will be having their festive lights switch on ceremony on Saturday 10 November at 6:00pm. The switch on is being organised by the Oadby Festive Lights Committee in conjunction with the Oadby Town Centre Association and the Mayor will be switching the lights on.
With live music, a funfair, Santa's Grotto and over 40 stalls - It's all set to be an evening not to be missed. Everyone is welcome, so join them to kick-start the family festive fun!
Wigston will follow on from the success of last year’s switch on event, not only will the fair be returning, Santa is also returning and will be doing his special walkabout tour. There will also be food and drink available as well as other activities.
Wigston’s event will be taking place on Saturday 24 November from 12:00pm and the lights will be officially switched on at 6:00pm at the top of Bell Street, outside of the Two Steeples.
South Wigston Chamber of Trade and Commerce are holding their annual Christmas Capers event and will again be switching on the lights during the event. There will be a fun fair, Santa’s grotto, children’s activities and late night shopping during the event.
Christmas Capers will take place this year on Saturday 1 December from 2:00pm to 6:00pm with the lights being switched on at 5.30pm. The event will take place along Blaby Road and Countesthorpe Road in South Wigston.
