Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Leicestershire Police were both called to a fire on Long Street, Wigston (Monday, 7 January) last night.
The fire was at a disused building and was extinguished by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service in the early hours. The incident has now been handed over to Leicestershire Police with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service looking to re-attend to help police with their investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for Leiecstershire Police said: "At 9:00pm Monday 7 January police were in attendance alongside Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service at a fire in a derelict building in Long Street, Wigston."
Buildings close by were evacuated for safety precautions before inhabitants being allowed back just before midnight and nearby roads were also closed for a short period.
All roads are now fully open.
