As our population ages, sadly ill health and loneliness increase the need for caring, professional day care.
To answer this need, Age UK Oadby & Wigston have invested over £30,000 refurbishing their Day Care facility and opening the centre for 5 days a week Monday to Friday. With increasing demand and fighting social isolation being at the heart of the charity's remit, it was important for the population of Oadby & Wigston that the service was increased.
A local relative, who's loved one uses the service each week said:
"The WellBeing Day Care facility at Age UK Oadby & Wigston provides a unique high quality service offering person centred care and support to their clients, promoting wellbeing, social inclusion, interaction and life enhancing activities provided by a dedicated team of caring qualified staff and helpers".
Anybody thinking of using the service can go for a free taster session. Each day includes a choice of flavour some, nutritionally balanced lunch with plenty of refreshments provided throughout the day that are frequently refilled. The day includes a variety of activities that are cognitively stimulating, fun, interative and create a lot of smiles and laughter throughout the day. Their well established team of caring professionals ensures everyone is personally cared for.
The Day Care Manager, Antoneta Fasulo said:
"We are a small local day care unit compared to many other providers. Our Wellbeing Day Care unit is unique in that we are able to focus on each of our clients giving a personalised individualised approach with dignity, respect and inclusiveness".
The Mayor, Cllr Lynda Eaton, was also in attendance to officially open the newly refurbished facility.
