Students set to arrive in Oadby Student Village

The time of year is upon us again when we welcome the students who will soon be arriving in Leicester and in the Borough to commence their studies.

The main arrivals weekend will be Saturday 21 September and Sunday 22 September 2019. These are the days that the majority of residents will move into their rooms in Oadby Student Village Halls of Residence.

The University are aware that there will be a greater number of vehicles in the area than usual as parents and well-wishers drop off the students. The University have put several measures in place this year to help alleviate congestion including, staggered arrival times across both of the days, additional off road parking locations and extra staff employed to help with directing traffic. They have also booked Leicester Racecourse for the weekend to be used as a long stay car park for all visitors. Hopefully this will reduce any queuing and parking along access roads.

There are also a number of early arrivals expected from Saturday 14 September 2019. These will be students who have arrived from overseas and students joining Medical School whose courses start earlier. Whilst numbers are much lower for these groups there may be a small amount of congestion caused.

If you need any assistance or have any problems during this period, please contact University Security on 0116 252 2023.

We wish to maintain good relationships with our neighbours and apologise for any inconvenience caused on the above dates.
