Budget Consultation – 2020 / 2021

Budget Consultation – 2020 – 2021 Onwards

To have money to spend on services each year the Council has to charge business rates or increase fees for the services it provides.

If it decides to spend more on a service, or group of services, it may have to increase the amount it takes from businesses or charge more to service users.

The Council is in the last year of the Local Government Funding Settlement – a settlement that saw funding reduce by over 30% in that period, on top of the significant reductions from 2010.

The Council is now expecting, along with all other local authorities, a single year settlement for 2020-21, which does not allow for long-term planning, nor allows for stability across services. Therefore we need your input into where we should spend our funding, what services we should prioritise and what we should be doing less of.

The Council would be grateful if you would help us by responding to the following questions on the survey, which will provide valuable feedback to inform our future spending plans and ensure that we continue to provide services that are value for money to businesses.
