Critical Workers Exempt From Parking Charges

Critical workers exempt from parking charges re-commencing on 1st July 2020.

The Council is pleased to announce that critical workers can obtain a pass which provides evidence of entitlement to free parking for those on duty as an NHS staff member, health or social worker or NHS Volunteer Responder. This is to enable them to access parking concessions in local authority owned car parks and on street parking bays during the Covid19 emergency response period.

The pass can be used in any local authority car park or on-street parking bay, not just in Oadby and Wigston, so long as the user is on official business.

The Council has placed notices in all of the borough’s car parks to give advance notice of the recommencement of parking enforcement and charges. Oadby and Wigston Borough Council have 11 town centre car parks. The Council has very generous parking fees. All the car parks are free for up to 3 hours. A flat fee of £3 applies for any length of stay above 3 hours.

Car parks can be found in:
Oadby – Ellis Park; East Street; Sandhurst Street
Wigston – Junction Road; Paddock Street; Aylestone Lane; Frederick Street; Spring Lane
South Wigston – Countesthorpe Road; Station Street; Kirkdale Road

Anyone wishing to park longer than 3 hours can do so at:
• Paddock Street, Wigston
• Aylestone Lane Car Park, Wigston
• Sandhurst Street Car Park, Oadby

Where a flat fee of £3 applies for any length of stay above 3 hours.
