COVID-19 Shielding Update

Below is an update for those residents who are shielding due to the coronavirus (Covid-19):


Oadby and Wigston residents that are currently shielding, are being written to by the government, to advise that you should continue shielding until at least the 17 August.

You will receive a letter in the post and in some cases, you may also receive a text.

You will be notified of further updates from the government if there are any changes or extensions following the local lockdown review on 1 August.

Food parcels

You might be in receipt of a weekly government food parcel because you registered for one on the government website.

  • If you are in Oadby and Wigston or the areas that were in the original lockdown boundaries you will continue to receive a weekly government sponsored food parcel until 31 July. This will then end.
  • Leicestershire County Council are working closely with Leicester City Council to ensure that you can access a weekly food parcel if required beyond 31 July. Colleagues from Leicester City Council will contact you to check whether you still require this. If you have queries email:
