Extended Local Lockdown Discretionary Business Grants Fund

Published: Wednesday, 9 September 2020

Oadby and Wigston have been allocated £400K as part of the extended local lockdown discretionary business grants fund.

Background as to why this is available

  • Due to significantly heightened local incidence of Covid-19, the Health Secretary imposed a local lockdown beginning on 30 June.
  • The impact of the lockdown was to close all non-essential retail that had been able to open again on 15 June and to keep closed hospitality and leisure businesses that would otherwise have been able to open from the 4 July.
  • On 24 July lockdown restrictions were relaxed; leaving Leicester and Oadby & Wigston inside the lockdown area. Restrictions on non-essential retail replaced by targeted ability of the local authorities to shut particular premises.
  • No additional business support funding has been made available during this period.

Grant purpose

To support businesses in the revised lockdown area (Leicester and Oadby & Wigston) that are experiencing a period of closure and lower trade, so that they are able to re-open and begin trading once lockdown and business closures measures are lifted.

The Grant is available from 12:30pm on 13 August 2020 to 6:00pm on 28 August 2020.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
