Remembrance Day Virtual Events

Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, parades and events that would usually take place to commemorate Remembrance Day have had to be cancelled in order to protect our communities. However, the council has organised a series of virtual events that you can watch via social media channels to ensure that we still celebrate this important event. Please see the details below.

Sunday 8 November

10.00 a.m. - Raising of the Flag by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Lily Kaufman and Deputy Mayor's consort, Cllr Jeffrey Kaufman.

10.45 a.m. - Video of the Last Post.

10.55 a.m. - Video of the two minute silence and laying of the wreaths by the Mayor, Cllr Lynda Eaton, the Mayor's Consort, Cllr Robert Eaton, Cllr Bill Boulter and Chief Executive, Anne Court.

11.30 a.m. - Video of a Remembrance Prayer read by Reverend Johnson, St Thomas Church Wigston.

12.00 noon - Video of the Commonwealth War Graves.

1.00 p.m. - Video of a reading by Reverend Johnson of 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae.

1.15 p.m. - Video of a reading by Reverend Johnson of 'Channel Firing' by Thomas Hardy.

2.30 p.m. - Video of a prayer read by Reverend Bailey, St Paul’s Church Oadby.
