Flood Alert: River Sence in Leicestershire

Published: Thursday, 14 January 2021

Flooding is possible for: River Sence and tributaries from Billesdon to the River Soar at Glen Parva.

River levels are forecast to rise at the South Wigston river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected.

Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including the farmland in Great Glen, Kilby Bridge, South Wigston and Blaby as well as the road at Crow Mills.

Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend. The Environment Agency expect river levels to remain high over the coming days and are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
