Top Tips to Avoid COVID-19 in the Shops

Published: Tuesday, 16 March 2021

There are still Covid-19 restrictions in place across the Country and the Borough. You should stay at home as much as possible, however when you need to go out we want to ensure that we are helping to create a safe environment for our residents.

There is signage around our three town centres to help visitors and businesses adhere to social distancing guidance, particularly around queueing.

We also still have Officers and COVID Marshalls working in the Town Centres to help with ensuring government guidelines are adhered to.

Some helpful tips when shopping:

  • Plan what you need to buy before visiting the town centre
  • Walk or cycle where possible to avoid large build-ups in car parks
  • If you are driving, please park considerately
  • Make use of hand sanitising stations
  • Wear a face covering
  • Keep 2m apart from other shoppers
  • Follow floor markings and one-way systems
  • Be patient and aware of potential queues
  • Avoid touching things that you are not going to buy
  • Avoid shopping in groups (single household shopping is best)
  • Avoid congested areas of the shop (for example if one isle is particularly busy, go to another isle first)
  • Pay contactless – avoid using cash
  • Bring your own shopping bags
