Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is delighted to show its support for Armed Forces Day this year and every year.
As with other major events which have faced cancellation this Borough Council ‘s staff Members, partners and volunteers will still be celebrating our Armed Forces in our community.
Armed Forces Day is the annual opportunity for all of us to come together to recognise and celebrate the valued service provided by our regular and reservist soldiers, sailors, air men and women, marines past and present and the families that have in turn supported them, especially during this time of providing valued support to our NHS.
It is also to be acknowledged and understood that when serving people hang up their uniforms it can be difficult for them and their families to return to civilian life, no longer being able to continue that serving role anymore can make life hard. So in raising the Union Jack at Bushloe House in Wigston we honour them. As the recipient of the Employers Silver Armed Forces Award in 2021, we salute them.
Other key commemorative dates to remember on the Armed Forces calendar of note are:
- Reservists Day- 23 June 2021
- Armed Forces Day – 26 June 2012
