In line with official protocols the Leader of Oadby & Wigston Borough Council, Councillor John Boyce, has written a letter of condolence to offer the sympathies of the borough to King Charles III.
It is with great sorrow that we hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
On behalf of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council and its members, officers and residents, I would like to offer the most sincere condolences to Your Majesty and the Royal Family as you mourn your loss.
As our longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II was a constant source of strength throughout our lives, and her loss will be sincerely felt.
The people of Leicestershire had the pleasure of several visits from Her Majesty over the course of her reign, most recently in 2017 when she visited Leicester Cathedral for Royal Maundy.
I have no doubt that we will continue to cherish the reign of Her Majesty and, as we enter the new Carolean era, carry these happy memories forward and remain united in our support of Your Majesty throughout this difficult time.
God Save The King.
Councillor John Boyce
