Brocks Hill Country Park in Oadby and Wigston’s Peace Memorial Park have achieved the Green Flag Award for the 16th year running.

The award is managed by charity Keep Britain Tidy, and recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, judging them against 27 criteria. This includes demonstrating that they are a safe and welcoming place, are well-maintained, and manage and conserve the natural landscape appropriately.

Community involvement is also assessed, with parks demonstrating that they understand the community that they serve, as well as providing opportunities for local residents to be actively involved.

Brocks Hill Country Park and Peace Memorial Park are owned and run by Oadby & Wigston Borough Council and also have a strong community focus with groups of volunteers regularly helping with their upkeep, as well as welcoming local groups to use the spaces.

Some of the volunteers at Brocks Hill raised their new flag this week, alongside our Chief Executive and Park Ranger - thank you for your hard work!
