Today we held a service to mark Holocaust Memorial Day inside the Sheila Mitchell Pavilion at Peace Memorial Park, Wigston.

Pupils from All Saints C of E Primary School in Wigston shared a poem, and reflections were delivered by local residents and faith leaders.

Resident and author Julian Harrison gave an address, which you can read here.

The event was also attended by our Mayor, Councillor Clare Kozlowski, and members of the council as well as members of the public - thank you to all who came along.

This year's theme was 'For a Better Future', marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.
