About the project

In order to help residents transition to electric vehicles, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council has recently received a grant to install Electric Vehicle Charge Points. Three sites have been selected; Wigston Leisure Centre, Wigston, Aylestone Lane Car Park, Wigston and East Street Car Park, Oadby. Installation has been completed at Wigston Leisure Centre and is ongoing at Aylestone Lane Car Park and East Street Car Park, due to be completed shortly.

These three sites have been chosen as they are close by to residential properties that do not have off street parking, which will make charging electric vehicles at home difficult. Once installed the charge points will be available for all residents to use. Residents will be able to access and use the charge points 24 hours a day.

The Council are working with a partner organisation, EB Charging, on this project. EB Charging will be completing the installation and managing the charge points afterwards. To use the charge points residents will need to install the EB Charging Payment App to their smartphone, which is available through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Charges will be set in line with the cost of using other local public charge points.

Further information will be made available on this page soon.
