About the project
In order to help residents transition to electric vehicles, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council has received a grant to install Electric Vehicle Charge Points. Three sites were selected; Wigston Pool and Fitness Centre, Wigston, Aylestone Lane Car Park, Wigston and East Street Car Park, Oadby and installation has now been completed.
These three sites were chosen as they are close by to residential properties that do not have off street parking, which would make charging electric vehicles at home difficult. The charge points are available for all residents to access and use 24 hours a day.
The Council are working with a partner organisation, Electric Blue (EB) Charging, on this project. EB Charging have completed the installation work and will manage the charge points.
To use the charge points residents will need to install the EB Charging Payment App ‘EB Go!’ to their smartphone, which is available through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Charges will be set in line with the cost of using other local public charge points.
EB Charging have created a guide on how to use the chargers. You can view this here: Electric Vehicle Charge Points - User Guide (Word Document, 2.63 Mb)
