We want your thoughts on refuse and recycling
Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is facing increasing financial challenges in the way in which it is funded nationally which means that by 2020 the Council has to be spending £1.4million a year less on running its services than it does now.
From April 2018, Leicestershire County Council is also withdrawing all the recycling credit payments, which are worth up to £500,000 a year to Oadby and Wigston and partly fund the Council’s current refuse collection and recycling service.
Due to this Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is having to review the way in which it collects refuse and recycling, as it is one of the Council’s largest budgets.
It is important that we look at all of the options and, if and when we make any changes, we will be able to continue to provide a valued service for all our residents.
To do this we need your thoughts to help us make the right choices for Oadby and Wigston.
Who are we consulting?
We are consulting all residents of Oadby and Wigston and we want as many views as possible. So, please spread the word and help us gather a full picture of residents’ opinions.
When does the consultation close?
This is an initial consultation to gather resident’s general views on our refuse and recycling service and it will last for just over three weeks (16 Feb – 12 Mar, 2017).
There will be a second follow-up consultation in the summer after we have examined the results. These options will be fully consulted before any decisions to the services are made.
