Brocks Hill Visitor Centre
This page contains information on some environmental features and facilities available at the visitor centre. Also how to join the guided tours we organise.
Facilities available at the centre
The main entrance has an automatic door. The centre is accessible to all and has a hearing induction loop system. There is a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities in the ladies and the gentlemens toilets. Only service dogs are allowed in the centre but there are dog tethers and drinking water for dogs at the back and front of the centre.

- shop with 'things for the kids', souvenirs, unusual greeting cards,
- exhibition of environmental information,
- natural outdoor play area and separate toddlers' play area,
- noticeboard of local events and entertainment.
Environmentally friendly visitor centre
- electricity generated by photovoltaic panels,
- warm air heating through the United Kingdom's first ventilated photovoltaic array,
- solar water collectors provide all year hot water,
- rainwater collection and storage for toilet flushing,
- toilets which are low flush and water saving,
- sewage treatment through a BioDisc sewage treatment unit,
- insulation provided by recycled newsprint, Rockwool and Polystyrene,
- passive solar gain through a south facing inset conservatory,
- examples of double, triple and argon filled glazing,
- earth bank protection on the north side to increasing thermal mass and
- exploitation of natural light by using internal glazing to allow 'daylighting'.
Tours of the building
